Travel 

BASS shuttle bus to Lancaster railway Station, 21st July.

CREST will organise a coach departing after the close of the conference on 21st July. This will be free of charge and will go direct to Lancaster railway station, taking approximately 30 minutes. 

Further details regarding departure time will be made available on the confirmed conference timetable. You do not need to pre-book this service.  

Travel details: Although we have estimated a 30-minute journey time, this could increase if there are delays in traffic so please factor this in.

By Rail

There are direct rail links between Lancaster and many of the UK's major cities and airports.  It takes approximately 1 hour to reach Lancaster railway station from Manchester airport and 2 hours 30 mins from central London. 

For train times, visit National Rail Enquiries. A bus service operates between Lancaster Railway Station and Lancaster University every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday day times. There is a limited hourly service on Sunday evenings in term time. Taxis are available at the station, which is a five-minute walk from the city centre. Taxi ranks are also available on campus. 

Local taxi services provide accessible vehicles and offer both male and female drivers. 

By Bus

In the City: The bus station is situated on Damside Street in the city centre, and most services also stop at Common Garden Street.  

On Campus: All buses drop off and collect passengers in the Underpass, situated underneath Alexandra Square. There are also bus stops directly outside the Sports Centre on the main drive. 

There are daily scheduled coach services from the Underpass to destinations across the UK. These are operated by Megabus and National Express.

By Air

Lancaster’s nearest airport is Manchester International Airport.  An hourly rail link runs directly between Manchester Airport and Lancaster. For train times, visit National Rail Enquiries - Official source for UK train times and timetables.  Alternatively, if flying into London you can catch an express service into central London and then travel by train to Lancaster (please see By Rail above). 

By Bicycle 

It takes around 20 minutes to cycle from the city centre to campus on the two University signed routes. 

An off-road cycle route runs from Whinfell Drive in Hala and enters the campus near Bailrigg House. A further off-road signed cycle route runs along the Lancaster Canal to the city centre. Most colleges have secure cycle stores. Other residences have undercover cycle stands. Cycle hire is available at Leisure Lakes on Penny Street in the city centre.

By Car

Leave the M6 motorway at Junction 33 and take the A6 north towards Lancaster. 

For Lancaster University's main campus – turn right at the third set of junction traffic lights on the A6 into the University main drive. 

Take the first exit left from the roundabout at the top of the main drive, then the first avenue on your right. This brings you to the Security Lodge where staff will direct you to your destination on campus. 

For Alexandra Park (southwest of campus) – turn right at the second set of junction traffic lights on the A6 into Hazelrigg Lane and turn left at the roundabout into Alexandra Park Drive.

Visitor Car Parking 

Lancaster University has over 1200 parking spaces for our visitors, with over 20 parking payment meters with flexible contactless and chip & pin payment options. There are 14 visitor car parks located throughout campus close to key visitor destinations.

1-day Visitor Scratch Cards 

As an alternative to using the pay and display machines, Lancaster University offers online sales of 1-day parking scratch cards for visitors.
