Early Career Researchers (ECR) event (18-19 July)

CREST is delighted to offer a free pre-conference workshop for Early Career Researchers (including PhD students) on the topic of Impact.

The workshop will draw on CREST’s expertise to develop ECR’s skills in how to communicate the importance and benefits of their research beyond academia.  Day one will focus on how to frame research to government practitioners, focusing on the key messages to communicate; and how to build into this conversation mechanisms for measuring impact. Day two will expand this focus to consider impact in funding applications. We will also put the lessons learned in Day one into practice with a speed dating session where ECRs can pitch ideas to, and receive feedback from, practitioners.

To derive maximum benefit from these sessions, attendees will want to draw on current or future research plans. In advance of the workshop attendees should think about how they would seek to communicate these to a practitioner audience and plan for short five-minute pitches.

The workshop will run from lunchtime on Monday 18th July to midday on Tuesday 19th July.

Places are limited, and will be allocated on a first come basis. Applications will open at 0900 (BST) on Wednesday 4th May and close at 1700 (BST) on Wednesday 18th May. To apply, please register your interest by emailing crest@lancaster.ac.uk with “BASS ECR Event” in the subject line. Please direct any questions to crest@lancaster.ac.uk
