Early Career Researchers (ECR) event (10-11 July)

CREST is delighted to offer a free pre-conference workshop for Early Career Researchers (a current doctoral student or within five years of the completion of your PhD (not accounting for career breaks)) on the topic of International Collaboration. 
Please note that places are limited for this event and are offered on a first come, first served basis. This event dovetails with the start of BASS23.

BASS23 Conference (11-13 July)

All rates include a conference dinner on the Tuesday evening, as well as a drinks reception at the evening Keynote on the Wednesday.

Normal Conference Rates

* Concessions are doctoral students, unemployed, or hourly-paid researchers.

Our Early Bird conferences rates will run until Friday 28th April.

Bursaries

A limited number of bursaries are available for postgraduate students and unemployed or hourly-paid researchers. Bursaries will cover the conference fee and up to £200 towards travel and accommodation costs. Bursary applications must be submitted by Friday 31st March to [email protected]

Please ensure you complete the application form fully and also arrange for a letter of support to be submitted independently (please see below for further details).  

Eligibility 

Applicants must: 

• Be a current postgraduate student, or an unemployed or hourly-paid researcher. 

• Have an accepted presentation at BASS23 (in any of the listed formats). 

• Be able to cover expenses beyond those covered by the bursary. 

Letters of Support 

The letter of support should come from your current/past supervisor or manager, from their institutional email account, and should: 

• Outline their relationship with the applicant. 

• Make clear the applicant’s area of research interest in security. 

• Outline the benefits to the applicant of attending BASS23. 

• Make the case for funding i.e., confirm there is no alternative and/or institutional funding available and the value to the applicant of participation in the conference. 

• Confirm the employment status of the applicant (student or otherwise). 

Decisions 

Decisions will be made by a panel of three people (CREST Director, CREST Centre Manager, and CREST Executive Director). Applications will be scored on eligibility, interest in the subject area and the value of attending the conference to the participant. 

Decisions will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding unsuccessful applications.  We will not accept retrospective or late applications.
