Conference

Is there an online option for the Conference?

No, the conference is in-person only. As a conference based around security, we are aware of the need for confidentiality. As there are people from across the globe, comprising of academics and practitioners in security and behavioural science, we want to maintain privacy for both individuals, and their research.

Travel & Accommodation

Is there accommodation for the conference?

If you require accommodation for the conference, you will need to book this separately.

We've secured a bunch of rooms at the University of St Andrews so those that have registered can stay right where the action is happening!

Agnes Blackadder Hall offers bed and breakfast in three-star guest accommodation with modern en-suite bedrooms and friendly service.

You can book on-campus accommodation here. There are also numerous options within St Andrews itself

Is there somewhere I can store my luggage?

Please note there will not be any secure luggage storage during the conference. There will be a room available to drop-off any heavy suitcases – but these are left at your own risk! We advise those who are staying on-campus to leave your luggage at Agnes Blackadder Hall accommodation, where they can be left before and after check-in

As am I based in a different country than the conference is being held, would CREST reimburse any travel costs if the proposal was approved?

Unfortunately, we don’t have funds for covering travel as part of the conference. However, for early career researchers, we have a bursary fund that delegates can apply for here

I am registered for the conference – how do I get there?

Visitors to St Andrews have several options when it comes to travelling to the town.

Located on the east coast of Scotland within the Kingdom of Fife, St Andrews can be easily reached from nearby cities via public transport, road and private transfers. International visitors have a choice of airport to fly into, all of which have good links with the town.

For further information, please see Getting to St Andrews - Visiting St Andrews - University of St Andrews (st-andrews.ac.uk)

Will I be compensated for any travel delays?

No, unfortunately we cannot take responsibility for any travel delays.

Accessibility

I have specific dietary needs; will this be accommodated?

Dietary requirements will be catered for all-conference catering. When purchasing your ticket there will be room for you to explain any dietary requirements.

What adjustments have been made to ensure accessibility needs?

We want everyone to feel welcome at BASS24, and so every effort will be made to ensure the accessibility of the conference. More details are available on our website. Please let us know of any specific accessibility needs by 21 June so we can cater for you accordingly.

Who can I speak to about accessibility?

At CREST we prioritise inclusivity and aim to provide a seamless conference experience for all attendees. Should you have any concerns or require assistance related to accessibility, our dedicated Accessibility Assistant, Dawn Stobbart ([email protected]) will be available throughout the conference. You can find her at the CREST reception desk at the event, ready to lend a helping hand and address any inquiries you may have.

Can I bring someone to the conference to help with my needs?

You are welcome to bring support, but all conference attendees MUST be registered and pay for a ticket, due to security concerns.
