Is there an online option for the Conference?
No, the conference is in-person only. As a conference based around security, we are aware of the need for confidentiality. As there are people from across the globe, comprising of academics and practitioners in security and behavioural science, we want to maintain privacy for both individuals, and their research.
I can no longer attend BASS26. What should I do?
If you are no longer able to attend, please can you let us know as soon as possible (email us at crest@lancaster.ac.uk). In order to help us schedule talks we will require presenters to have registered by 4 May.
I have had my paper accepted; do I still need to register?
Yes, in order to help us schedule talks, we require ALL presenters to have registered by 4 May.
Are details available of previous conferences?
Previous copies of the delegate pack/conference programme are available on request. Please email us at crest@lancaster.ac.uk.
When will the lightning talks take place?

Details can be found here: ECR Event
Can I still display my poster without attending the conference?
The author is required to be present at the conference regardless of the submission type including posters, as the author is expected to present their poster during the poster session to answer questions and join in with wider discussions.

What is your refund policy?
Our policy is as follows:
Cancellation dates:
- Before 8 May 2026 – full refund
- Between the 9 and 23 May - 50% refund
- After the 24 May – nil refund
If the conference is cancelled for reasons beyond the control of CREST, the refund policy outlined above will apply.
Travel & Accommodation
Is there accommodation for the conference?
We have secured a limited number of rooms at Premier Inn Cardiff North for conference delegates.
A complimentary shuttle bus will operate between the hotel and Cardiff University each day of the conference for your convenience.
Rooms can be booked via the online store as part of the registration process. Please note there is a very limited amount of accommodation available, so we strongly encourage you to reserve your accommodation as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Delegates are welcome to arrange their own accommodation if preferred. However, please be aware that Cardiff will be particularly busy that week due to major live music events taking place in the city. As a result, rooms are expected to sell out quickly and prices will be significantly higher than usual.
As I am based in a different country than the conference is being held, would CREST reimburse any travel costs if the proposal was approved?
Unfortunately, we don’t have funds for covering travel as part of the conference. However, for early career researchers, we have a bursary fund that delegates can apply for here.
Will I be compensated for any travel delays?
No, unfortunately we cannot take responsibility for any travel delays.
Accessibility
I have specific dietary needs; will this be accommodated?
Dietary requirements will be catered for all-conference catering. When purchasing your ticket there will be room for you to explain any dietary requirements.
What adjustments have been made to ensure accessibility needs?
We want everyone to feel welcome at BASS26, and so every effort will be made to ensure the accessibility of the conference. More details are available on our website. Please let us know of any specific accessibility needs by 21 May so we can cater for you accordingly.
Who can I speak to about accessibility?
At CREST we prioritise inclusivity and aim to provide a seamless conference experience for all attendees. Should you have any concerns or require assistance related to accessibility, our dedicated Accessibility Assistant, Kathryn Hayward (k.hayward1@lancaster.ac.uk) will be available throughout the conference. You can find her at the CREST reception desk at the event, ready to lend a helping hand and address any inquiries you may have.
Can I bring someone to the conference to help with my needs?
You are welcome to bring support, but all conference attendees MUST be registered and pay for a ticket, due to security concerns.
Miscellaneous
Can I take photos during the conference?
Please note that this is a strictly no-photography event. Please respect the wishes of colleagues and organisations requiring privacy by not taking photos during the conference, including sessions.
