IAPSS 2025 Conference Host: Call for Proposals

Academic research centres or networks from around the world are encouraged to apply to host the 2025 conference, which will be organised in partnership with CREST and NCITE. With this event, we hope to build on the work done in March at our inaugural conference in London.

Applications are due by September 13, 2024.

The chosen host will be notified by October 4, 2024.

IAPSS Conference Host Call for Proposals

The IAPSS inaugural conference, hosted by CREST, took place in London, UK, 5-6th March 2024 and was attended by 62 people, from 17 research networks, across 12 countries. The aims of the conference were to begin identifying key challenge areas and to provide opportunities for networking. The IAPSS conference aims to:

Foster stronger relationships among academics across FVEY countries and other global partners.

Facilitate the exchange of knowledge and methodological expertise across international collaborators, multilateral groups, and the wider public.

Contribute to the development of the next generation of social and behavioral scientists in the field of security and prevention.

With these objectives in mind, IAPSS invites proposals from academic research centres or networks to host its 2025 conference, which will be coordinated with CREST and NCITE to optimize continuity. In addition, the 2025 host will be responsible for managing conference logistics and producing related outputs. Indicative responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to:

Delegate invitations, accommodations and travel
Venue and catering selection and contract
Securing conference facilitator
Conference agenda
Physical support and troubleshooting during the conference
Conference outputs

The IAPSS team will work with the successful applicant to support communications (e.g., webpage content, design of promotional and conference materials), identify delegates, and grant management (e.g., award paperwork and eligible spend).

Estimated Funding

IAPSS will provide up to $300,000 USD (or equivalent local currency) to support the selected host of the 2025 conference. Funding will be used for costs associated with the planning and execution of the conference, which should include travel for a limited number of attendees or invited speakers (government and academic). Awards may vary depending on the proposal and alignment with IAPSS objectives. Cost-share is encouraged from your host country, but not required.

Eligible Grantees

We are seeking proposals from investigators associated with institutions of higher education (or those engaged in scholarly academic research and student training) to host the IAPSS 2025 conference. Delegates from the IAPSS 2024 conference are particularly encouraged to apply as the 2025 event host, but review of the IAPSS event can be found here for those who wish to understand the nature of the meeting. We will not award grants to individuals, or to federal, state, country, or local government entities – though those groups may be partners with the grant recipient.

Evaluation

For the 2025 Annual Conference, IAPSS will prioritise proposals that support the aims of the consortium. Submissions will be evaluated based on how well the conference proposal aligns with the objectives outlined for IAPSS and how well the budget supports the proposed agenda and outputs. All proposals should include the required components outlined in Appendix A.

Application Notification and Timeline

IAPSS will strive to notify applicants regarding our intent to fund their conference proposal by October 4, 2024 for a conference scheduled in March or April 2025.

Once awarded, the IAPSS team will work with the host to complete all subaward paperwork.
