How are our digital traces used to build profiles of who we are, what we believe, and what we might do? This two-day workshop will bring together a diverse community of experts and participants to explore the fast-evolving world of digital profiling.
Through talks, hands-on activities, and case studies, participants will discover how profiling is applied in areas as diverse as security intelligence, online harms, linguistics, and questions of trust in digital systems. You will experiment with real tools, grapple with ethical and privacy challenges, and debate how profiling technologies shape our digital futures.
Whether you are curious about the methods behind the profiles, interested in the implications for crime and security, or keen to understand how profiling connects to trust, privacy, and ethics, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn and connect with a cross-disciplinary community.
Please note, there will be a tutorial on running random forest algorithms, so you will need to bring your laptop with R/R Studio installed.
Note: This workshop is free to attend and we have limited funds to cover travel and accommodation expenses.
