Join Andrew Darby (CREST Content Producer and Future of Human Reproduction Research Associate in Speculative Design) for a FREE, NABS+ creative half-day workshop introducing the Design Fiction method as a practical and creative low-risk way to think critically about future directions in security and defence research and generate fresh, actionable insights.
Design Fiction is a creative research method that helps researchers and practitioners critically examine the assumptions, values, and implications embedded in innovations and emerging research trajectories. Through guided exercises, participants will create simple design fiction artefacts grounded in their own research contexts. These speculative materials will be used to surface ethical and social implications that can be difficult to access through conventional analytical methods.
This workshop is ideal for researchers seeking new ways to critically reflect on their work, expand their methodological toolkit, and engage creatively with the future implications of security research.
