CREST bursaries for Naturalistic Decision Making conference

CREST is helping build the capacity of security-related research by providing three travel bursaries for students to attend the annual Naturalistic Decision Making conference.

CREST is delighted to be yet again supporting the annual Naturalistic Decision Making Conference, by providing three travel bursaries for students whose work relates to understanding, mitigating and countering security threats and who do not have external funding.

This year, the annual Naturalistic Decision Making (NDM) conference is being held in San Francisco, from the 18th to the 21st of June – with a doctoral consortium running the day beforehand, on Monday 17th June. The NDM Doctoral Consortium is intended to provide an opportunity for PhD students to discuss and explore their research with experts in the field of Naturalistic Decision Making.

This is an excellent opportunity to receive guidance on dissertation proposals as well as career advice from leaders in NDM related areas of research. Participants will be expected to present their research ideas in 10–15 minutes, with an additional 10 minutes for discussions and suggestions from experts. The goals of the Doctoral Consortium event are to:

  • Provide fruitful feedback and advice to the selected PhD students on their research ideas.
  • Provide the opportunity to meet experts from different backgrounds working on topics related to Naturalistic Decision Making.
  • Interact with other PhD students and stimulate an exchange of ideas and suggestions among participants.

The Doctoral Consortium will be held as a workshop on Monday June 17th, 2019, the day before the Pre-Conference Workshops (Tuesday June 18th). The participants of the doctoral consortium are also strongly encouraged to register for and attend the main conference.

Students from the United Kingdom who are completing security-related research can apply for one of three £500 CREST travel bursaries. Applications should be submitted by Friday April 12th, 2019 at 17:00 US Eastern Daylight Time.

More details about the consortium, and the application form for the travel bursary are available from the NDM conference website here:
