As part of the MSc Course ‘Security and Resilience Science and Technology’ – a course taught within Imperial College London – are 2 Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) spaces to work with Dr. Margaret Wilson – who is module lead for 2 x modules ('Behavioural Science for Security', and 'Behavioural Research Methods').

The duties involve assisting the module lead in tutorials and taking an active role in forming the student skillset and reinforcing the course objectives. Training is given AND all materials are already in existence (this is the 6th year that the course has been taught.)

The GTA role is ideal for a PhD student or early-career Post-Doctoral researcher. Applicants can have a formal science, engineering, maths background OR applied/classical social science degree – "we value a GTA team with a broad base and wide interests". The basic requirement is ‘interest’.

The role is renumerated (around £25/hour – note preparation time is also paid). The teaching terms are 10 weeks long and the average weekly class contact time is 1 to 1.5 hours. Teaching runs from October to mid-December 2025, and early January to mid-March 2026. Travel expenses will be covered.

Assisting in assessment is also possible. Previous GTAs have included PhD students and Post-Docs from University of Manchester, University of Lancaster, Imperial College London. NOTE: we value our LISS DTP partners at Kings College London and Queen Mary University of London.

These roles are ideal for a PhD student who is interested in teaching or a post-doc who wishes to develop their CV with some clear, academic activities.

HOW TO APPLY: A simple statement of interest (i.e. a ‘tell me more’ message ) e-mail to BOTH w.proud@imperial.ac.uk and c.noble@imperial.ac.uk - who will contact you for a conversation and to outline details.
