Darren Cook holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, and Computer Science (EEECS), and Master's degrees in both Risk-Based Decision-Making and Forensic Psychology, all from the University of Liverpool. He currently works as a Research Fellow in Natural Language Processing at City St George’s, University of London. His current research focuses on the application of AI, Machine Learning, and NLP in policing, VAWG, and far-right misinformation. He has previously held academic positions at Imperial College London and worked at the Alan Turing Institute as a Data Scientist, where he developed large-language models (LLMs) in the healthcare and defence sectors. He has published academic work in journals including Digital Health, JMIR, and Responsible Computing, and presented at international conferences including Interspeech, and AI, Ethics and Society.
