Heidi is a PhD student at Royal Holloway, University of London. She has a wide work experience from public, third sector and academia. Her master’s thesis (2018) focused on the deradicalization and disengagement methods used in Europe.
With her work, she has established a network of professionals working in this field among whom are advisors and public servants from European Commission and Council of the European Union, social and youth workers, researchers and psychologists from the UK, Sweden, Finland, Austria, Netherlands, Germany and Ireland. She gained a scholarship from Estonian Police and Boarder Guard Board for her thesis and has presented the results at conferences in Bratislava, Tartu and Sarajevo. Her PhD project focuses on impact assessment of methods used in disengagement programmes for Islamists and Far-Right group members in Europe. Maiberg will be a research assistant on this project.
