Miriam S. D. Oostinga is Assistant Professor at the Psychology of Conflict, Risk and Safety section of the University of Twente.

Miriam has a broad interest in crime in general and psychology-related research in particular. She like to uncover the unknown. She has explored the control methods used to dominate victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation. She has studied the cultural dimension uncertainty avoidance in crisis negotiation and assessed communication error management in suspect interviews and crisis negotiations.
