Seán McLoughlin

Dr Seán McLoughlin is an expert on religion in South Asian diasporas. He was a Co-I on the 2006 AHRC/Home Office review on the roots, practices and consequences of terrorism and PI on the 2006-09 AHRC network From Diaspora to Multi-locality: Writing British Asian Cities which compared the local and transnational dynamics of Hindu, Muslim and Sikh communities in the UK. During the last decade Dr McLoughlin has been consulted by government as well as Islamic movements on various aspects of British Muslim affairs. He was elected chair of the Muslims in Britain Research Network 2011-14 and has given invited lectures across Europe and the US. Dr McLoughlin is the co-editor of European Muslims and the Secular State (Ashgate/Routledge 2005), Diasporas: Concepts, Identities, Intersections (Zed 2010) and Writing the City in British Asian Diasporas (Routledge 2014).
