Development of Risk Assessment Schemes for Channel
This project will develop a prototype risk assessment scheme for individuals referred to Channel through the refinement of existing guidance and the production of a new process.
The deliverables from this project will help professionals to better understand the risks and vulnerabilities associated with a particular case and to identify how the individual may be best supported.
The prototype will assess:
- the risk the individual faces of being drawn into violent extremism
- the risk the individual poses to society if they get drawn into violent extremism.
In developing a prototype scheme, we will follow Logan and Lloyd’s guidelines on Structured Professional Judgement approaches closely. We propose to employ a range of methods to achieve these steps, including:
- document analysis
- practitioner surveys and interviews
- systematic review
- base rate study
- reliability testing.
