Drawing From Your Research: a creative workshop using playful storyboarding and analogies to help you communicate your research in fresh, engaging ways.

Drawing From Your Research

In February 2026 we delivered a free creative half day workshop exploring engaging and accessible ways to share research.

Through role play and simple storyboarding techniques, participants developed creative analogies to help practitioners and wider audiences connect more easily with their work. No artistic experience was required beyond drawing stick figures!

During the session, participants experimented with reframing complex ideas, testing explanations using analogies and visualising their research in new ways. A short readout from the day can be read here and, with participants’ permission, selected storyboard outputs and case studies will be shared here soon.

In the meantime, you can download the workshop slides and prompt cards below for teaching or learning purposes. These materials are free to use provided they are properly credited to NABS+, and are not used for commercial gain.

Date delivered: Tues 10 February 2026, 10:30-15:00
Location: London
Hosts: Rebecca Stevens, Simon Wells, and Andrew Darby
